For those of us at Cal Poly Pomona, we still have four more weeks until school starts. This week we are focusing on one of our members, Joseph Gaite, who believes that he wouldn't be where he is today if it weren't for PSE. Joseph is currently interning at Integra Realty Resources as a Researcher. He is in his 4th year and majoring in Finance, Real Estate, and Law. It's really great hearing how PSE has helped our members achieve their goals!
"Integra Realty Resources is the largest commercial appraisal firm in the United States. We provide commercial real estate market research, valuation, counseling, and consulting services. We work with a variety of clients from banks such as Chase Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo to small family owned law firms that manage family trusts. Interning here has been an amazing experience because my position is essentially the base of what goes on in my office. I have worked on tiny $100,000 pieces of land to $50,000,000 downtown apartment structures. When we get a new property to appraise, it is my job to find out as much information as I can about the property and build the skeleton of an appraisal report. It seems very tedious but I thoroughly enjoy the work because every single job is different. What I enjoy most about my job is that I get to see my work in an end product. It feels amazing knowing that the words I put on a report are actually going to our client who ever it may be. I can honestly say without PSE, I would not be where I am today. PSE put me in an environment where I am surrounded by the brightest most hard working people, and without those great people around me it would be extremely difficult to stay motivated and achieve my goals."
What have our Beta Kappa alumni been doing? As you may already know, we have been featuring our members each week at their internships. We also want to highlight what our wonderful alumni are doing post graduation! This week we will begin our Alumni Spotlight series. One of our recent graduates, Candace Chen, got a job at PepsiCo as an Operations Manager. Candace graduated in Spring 2015 with a degree in International Business and Marketing. See what she has to say about her experience at PepsiCo. We can't wait for her to come back to share her experiences with all of us. Congratulations on all of your success, Candace!
"One month after graduation, I began my career with PepsiCo as an Operations Manager. I have been getting trained on operation tools and programs, strategies to improve efficiency, production equipments and processes, packaging and labor managements, and the company values. I still have two months of training before I officially go onboard, and so far, one thing that stood out to me is the importance of teamwork and leadership. Being a good leader for your team can make a huge positive impact. PepsiCo is a company that has more opportunities than you can ever imagine. Although I graduated with an International Business and Marketing degree, I saw the opportunity to join my dream company and held on to it. One piece of advice I can give to you is grab any opportunity you can, even if that means you have to step outside of your comfort zone. Seeing further with an open mind can surely help you succeed. Big thanks to PSE for providing me the network and giving me the opportunity to join PepsiCo."
